Thank you for the fave Bob. ;-)

At the last moon eclipse I stayed up all night taking technically OK but boring pictures of the moon like lots of other people. When the sky began to lighten I packed up. As I threw my stuff in the truck, I saw this behind me. It isn't the greatest sunrise I ever recorded, but it reminded me that we can get so wrapped up in our intentions that we miss the real magic.

Just taken my new D90 out of the box, waiting for the software to load on my laptop, pointed the camera into the room and got this.

Not entirely sure what I like about it, the main thing I would take from it is that I live in squalor. However, it does have something, just wish I knew what...

Interesting shot actually. What kept drawing my eye? The fat lady in the middle who had nobody to talk to...

I think she is a chaperone in that scene, hence everyone else wishing she wasn't there.

You saying that made me try to remember what the film was. I always thought it was 'The Malta Story' but looking at it again the uniforms look like USAAF or US army.

I wonder if anyone here can identify it?

Nice to see and a great thread !!!!

A few odd shots and probably a few flukes. Right time and right place, or wrong time, wrong place :-)

So a few that were unexpected. In fact to get any bird shot at all is unexpected to me :-)

All the best and a fun thread.

On a short trek to get some fresh air, brought my camera and one of my offspring with his camera. Was hoping for some birds but not many were out and about. Got a few keepers but one which at the time I didn't expect to be all that nice turned out to be my favorite. Feel free to share your over achievers :-D

No award winning shot but I like the colors.
Caught this on my morning walk with my RX100 -- Neighbor's Halloween / Thanksgiving display.
Check "Original size"

That's some amazing timing Danny. I have been warming up to telephoto work more and more since I got my 55-250, someday I may end up with the 100400 I think :-D

…a figure from what's his name's Ned Kelly series. :)

…quite different from that and has no artistic merit whatsoever. LOL.

On a holiday morning, I was messing around with HDR (Bracketeer app on the Mac -- wonderful) and I bethought me to test the built-in HDR on the Panny G6.

I had the Olympus 9-18 lens on so @ 9 (18 FF equiv), I pointed the camera out the back door onto the verandah which was a clutter of footwear and rubbish and whatnot but with lots of high contrast to test the HDR, and pressed the button -- hand held.

I keep going back to this darned picture and looking at it. Must be the angles or the clutter! Whatever -- I like it. :)

By the way, as you can see the HDR works very well! :)

Gawd -- lovely composition, colors, etc., etc.! If that isn't the greatest sunrise you have recorded, how about showing one that's better? I have never got a really good sunrise shot. Sunsets, yes. Sunrises, no.

Last week, we had a lot of load shedding - being without electricity for +/- 2 hours at a time.

One of the evenings, I thought I might as well experiment - with the Canon SX50 compact - using only my little hiker's gas lamp as the light source (I never use its on-board flash) - quite surprised with the result I got from this small sensor - it gave me a decent original, which I could take further in post.
