Is it possible to change the Picture numbers on the RX100M3 ?

yup, just put the card in with the last photo from before you initialized it, in the correct directory etc. it will start counting from there.

It might ask to rebuild the file database or something like that, just say yes.

hmmm, i upgraded from a rx100m2 to a rx100m3 and was able to keep the numbering. But I don't recall exactly what I did.

I think what happened for me:

1) started using the new camera and noticed it started at photo DSC0001.

2) so I plugged the camera into the computer and deleted that photo.

3) copied the last photo shot on my RX100m2 (both jpg and raw) into the existing directory.

4) powered off the camera and restarted it. I think it asked if I waned to rebuild the database and I answered yes

after that it was numbering photos consecutive from the numbers taken on the rx100m2

My rx100m3 still has the same directory number \\DCIM\100MSDCF I don't recall if I have ever had the directory name change.

Try the same procedure.

Just found the answer in the RX100M3 manual. Calculated what the next number should be, renamed a photo with that number on my computer, put photo into current DCIM folder on card, replaced card and went to Menu\Recover Image DB. Everything is working fine now.

Thanks everyone..... :-)

Gratulation!

I have another problem numbering:

I have at least 3 cameras with the same numbering

DSC0####

I would be happy if someone could tell me a way in the camera to change DSC to fx A7R / N6X

(you can do it with Nikon cameras)

Hi,

AFAIK you're out of luck for this type of change in camera. But you can do this at any time on your computer selecting a file name which meets your needs. I've choosen a different way by separating the files from different cameras into folders which are specific for a certain camera / model, for example for the RX100's files and RX10's files. And in times when I had more than one camera of the same model they would be named RX10a, RX10b and so on.
