I'd say what Sony lacks is teleprimes and fast telezooms. Makes lot more difference that slideshow effect.

Yup made my point NEX 7 totally different generation of EVF looked at one hated it. A77m2 totally different experience..Or do you assume the Rebel OVF is as good as a Canon viewfinder on a 7d etc. A6000 VF is much better too surprised me as I assumed also seen one e-mount evf seen them all. Shoot current generation advanced evf so then you opinion mI got matter.I guess I must have imagined owning that NEX-7 and those other EVF equipped cameras...Having started slr photography over 35 years ago and having shot with Canon OVF for decades, it's pretry easy to spot an opinion with no experience, just parroting what they have heard for effect.Uh oh the Sony hive mind... I better keep MY opinions to myself!Spoken like a Canon Fan.. someone still waiting to see if Autofocus is just a fadOn paper EVF sounds good and I'll agree with you that it does some things right but it's not there yet and perhaps never will be for some situations. Even the best EVF is still prone to lag and can be a headache to use when shooting fast moving subjects...or when you're shooting in dim light. There's also the power consumption issue, I used to have a 60D that I could shoot pretty much all day and not give a second thought to the battery. On the other hand I owned various mirrorless cameras and would have to charge and load up on batteries if I wanted to take my camera on a hike for the day. Two + million dots in a viewfinder drains a battery FAST.I didn't see you at snail mail's funeral either,I must have missed OVF's funeral...oh wait, nevermind plenty of people still prefer it over EVF.
or film or polaroid or vinyl, think whimper not bang
Dunno who "plenty" of people are but I wouldn't tell that
to the owners of almost any other form of imaging, other than DSLR.
Start with mobile phones and keep working your way up.
Most OVF users I know just enjoy the experience
or are locked into a brand, they long since stopped
claiming any technical superiority for it.

Volunteer, what could possibly go wrong ?
Those might be small issues to you but they weren't to me. I was thrilled to get rid of the EVF and go back to OVF which seemed like one less thing I had to worry about. Both have their own shortcomings but for me I'll gladly take the OVF.

If they just delete the A-mount, then it will go to the recycling bin, and we can still use our existing A-mount cameras...they haven't gone away, they've just moved to the trash bin.
But god forbid they decide to Shift + Delete the A-mount...all of our existing cameras will suddenly disappear...gone forever, unable to be recovered. Permanent delete...scary!

You already can mount the larger lenses made for SLRs on mirrorless cameras, and a lot of people do that. You just can't do things the other way around, because SLRs require a lens specially designed with a large enough flange focal distance to accommodate the size of the mirror box between the lens and the sensor. In fact as mirrorless technology improves I'd expect there to be no need for special or different lens mounts just to support a mirrorless body
