In the spirit of the previous "Show us your City" thread, some of us find small towns much more engaging. Here is mine: Baddeck, NS, Canada - what about yours? Have you visited an interesting town recently? Anything is fair game as long as it's a photo of some aspect of a small town.

(I included the lighthouse because it is the second most photographed lighthouse in Nova Scotia, right after Peggy's Cove. I should know - I have hundreds of photos of this lighthouse in all sorts of conditions :P)

What a beautiful town you have - well photographed too. Thanks for sharing.

By far the most prominent feature in my home town is this county courthouse:

This is the waterfront park in my childhood hometown. The Hudson River was behind me as I shot this. The bandstand was built by my grandfather.

Hi Jim, while the PP on your picture may not be everybody's taste, I like it very much. Looking nearly like a realistic drawing rather than a photography.

It reminds me very much of the drawings of a swiss painter who used to be very famous for his children books when I was young: Jörg Müller

Would you mind sharing some details about how you achieved this? Is this "just" a HDR with a low dynamic range in the result or is there more to it?

Thanks, Laurent

Your small town is really nice and you took some nice photos of it Andrew. I especially like the first one and the last. The seascape with the lighthouse is very good.

this in old scaramento where i frequently visit, especially in Fall and Winter seasons because of color and weather! this is my favorite spot, i have taken 100s of photos of this same place. i processed this shot on a software that i have to make it like an old painting, which i found interesting. i hope you find it interesting as well ;-)

Laurent - This is a single frame, processed in Photomatix. I was going for a pastel look for two reasons. First, it was shot at dawn and I wanted to show those delicate colors. Second, this spot was a childhood playground for me and I wanted a nostalgic look.

thanks for your comments.
