I have used this lens now getting on for a couple of years without issue, its been used in the pouring rain to Dusty Drag strips ( Yes! Here in the UK! Santa Pod),the lens is still in mint condition and has not suffered any dust or dirt ingress like my Ex Nikkors did. Some moan about this Marvellous lens being "slow" at F4,however this is somewhat irrelevant on the 5D MKIII due to the excellent sensor, meaning you can crank the issues up,also lets not forget we have IS as well! For "Events" for examples, carnivals, country fairs, gardens, etc This lens ends up on the camera far more than my 24-70 F2.8L II,don't get me wrong that is a fantastic lens, and sharper in SOME parts-however this is something you would be really hard pushed to see in real life, say an A3 sized print.More recently I have actually toyed with the idea of selling the 24-70 F2.8L II and chucking the dough towards a new 100-400 F5.6L II which would be far more useful. Please don't get me wrong,I'm not rubbishing the 24-70,its just that I always find the 70 not enough, certainly more so on the 5D MKIII.
