I got a new battery and it has solved the problem. I know its a pain to have to buy a new battery, but it works! The battery the 280 comes with has been discontinued.

I'm keeping track, I've got a full 3 bars of power and I've taken 205 pictures and 2 small videos so far. And this has been for the last month or two?
