Neither - because what the 700D picks up is an interference with the printing process used for the image. The proof is easy: take the Nikon D810/D800E into the comparison, both of which don't have an AA filter and both of which show a hefty colour moiree in the region you pointed out.

Maybe Nikon D810/D800E show a hefty colour moiree because of the pattern on the wall, which can't be properly resolved? Nikon D610 also shows pattern similar to 700D

First, it seems odd to take photos of a drawing or painting, which lacks detail compared to a natural scene. Second, it's not believable that the 700D resolves those lines on the wall while the 7D2 doesn't show them at all. Look at the knot in the ribbon in one person's hair, or the buttons, or other small details that seem similar in the two images. Why, then, not the lines on the walls? I wouldn't expect the resolution to be different in two sensors of the same size that have the same number of pixels if the same lens and the same degree of NR were used in both images. I'd expect other aspects of the scene to be different, though, depending on sensor technology, processing technology, and so on.

Great scene showing:

- 7D2 is ~ half stop better than 70D

- 7D2 is ~half stop worse than 6D

- 70D about equal to D7100

- No AA (D810) unusable for scenes with fine details

RAW for ISO between 1600 and 12800.

About a week to real life test.

I think I read somewhere that the 7D2 seemed to have a more aggressive JPEG engine when it comes to noise. Or maybe it's just a focus issue here ?

Take a look at this comparison.

Disagree without being disagreeable

Canon 100D, Nikon D610 and Sony alpha a6000 also pick up pattern on the wall

So, I guess the question is... is there a pattern on the wall or is it interference?

Odd. So we can rule out the Jpeg/RAW option. If it's focus, you should be able to find areas where it's the reverse situation, because this demo panel isn't flat. Maybe someone from the DPR staff should be able to explain this.

I agree. Only author of this test can answer the question what is on that wall, and which camera shows it properly.
