EVF in the next Rebel: for and against

Rebel is a SLR line. A mirrorless body retaining the deep mirrorbox EF/EF-S mount makes no sense at all.
EF/EF-S mirrorless would actually make perfect business sense.

If Canon made it an EF-M mount, it would remove any incentive to buy EF glass from this market segment - they wouldn't even be able to sell the 50/1.8 to these users, let alone convince them to go upmarket with full-frame.
I mean, if Canon ever wanted to do EF/EF-S mirrorless, they probably wouldn't introduce EF-M mount.

Seconds, new mount basically means new lens line people must buy. Vendor has not much interest in someone's investment protection.

An eventual EF lens on mirrorless reminds me on monster trucks :-)

I don't think having index card thin mirrorlesses is necessarily an advantage. Sometimes the form factor of a well-balanced DSLR is very attractive and usable. I don't see Canon losing money by putting a mirrorless in a rebel body. Rather, it could be like the SONY A3000 which is a DSLR form mirrorless.

Somehow I don't think this was meant to be in response to me, as my post stated that they should keep it a DSLR...yeah?

Must have been in reply to someone else. Anyways, I agree with you and we should put the EVF in. Done deal.
