I finally have a chance to test (and use) RX10 video after upgrade.
Here what I notices compare AVCHD 60p/28mBps with XAVC-S 60p/50mBps.
I took a few videos, such as kids playing soccer (football), kids playing on the beach etc. with normal and soft light. The major improvement was smoothness of the motion, otherwise I could barely see the difference. A little bit more details, but nothing to brag about.
I have two boys playing ice hockey, and most of my videos are hockey related. I love RX10, but it is not the best tool for recording hockey. AVCHD (or its implementation) cannot handle DR of 1" sensor. There are blown highlights, bleeding colors, loose of details. To make a decent video I had to dial down jpeg engine to get as flat video as I can and bring it back in PP. This is a major pain.
Today I finally brought the camera for the game and try it.
This is day and nigh! XAVC-S easily handles harsh light, I can easy get SOCC footage with good colors and detail, color bleeding almost not existing, motion is silky smooth. I am a happy camper there.
I also tried 120 fps. recording. If I play video on the camera, it plays at the normal speed with the sound. Then tried to play a clip on PC, it just stay still. PC is not a problem. I have I7/32G RAM/4G video card.
Have anyone try 120 fps?
