Sigma 24-105 f4 Art lense vs. Nikon 24-120 f4

The Nikkor 24-120 f/4.0 lens is a great all rounder. I have used it for Harper's BAZAAR, ELLE and GLAMOUR magazines.

Go for it! :)

Thanks Benjamin, that's an excellent recommendation given your requirements. Realize this is an older post, but any preference for say the 24-70mm F2.8 over this lens or limitations you found?
My personal experience is that it is an excellent and incredibly practical lens. It isn't very heavy, is quite fast to focus, and has very good VR. Optically at f/5.6 it is excellent at pretty much all focal lengths 24m to 120mm. At f/4 it is more limited and is only really good from 24 to 70. Beyond that it grows softer and it is something to take into consideration. I find it has very good color, though not great contrast. Still, that is easily added in post. As a do-all, take-anywhere, it is immensely practical.

I wouldn't pay the sticker price of $1200, but if you can get it as white box for $700 or less, then it is well worth the price.

Does you copy of this lens (24-120 f4) underexposes by 2/3 stop? Mine does compared to my other lenses. Is this normal? Im using d7100

More like 1/3 to 1/2 stop, but yes. My LR import settings automatically add +0.40 EV to the exposure slider.

Thanks for this, I thought my copy was a lemon, maybe it's just normal. Btw, I did the comparison test with 85mm 1.8g and Tamron 17-55 2.8 non vc
