Canon Printer ip7250 replace default icc profiles

I am using generic Sudhaus ink in my printer which seem to have a green tint with the standard profiles installed with the printer.

I have created a icc profile for plus glossy II paper, which I find works very well if i am using a icc aware application and set the canon driver to not use its inbuilt profiles.

If i print a word, pdf or other document from software that you can't set the icc profile for, the print uses the default profile and results with the green tint.

I would like to build a ICC profile for normal paper printing in normal conditions and set it as a printer default so that i can print on my printer from any application without changing print settings.

Is it possible to replace the default ICM profiles used in the driver so it would work for any software, as the ink will always have this green bias?

Alternatively... setting the default color shift:

I tried initially changing the color management settings (color, brightness and contrast sliders) before getting the profiling software/hardware but couldn't figure out what changes to make! is there software that can look at a icc profile and tell me which changes to make from normal to achieve the settings in the profile.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I'm sure someone can come along and answer your basic question.

I am on the Mac. And in an application like Adobe Reader, you can pull up the full printer dialog and under Color Matching select Epson Controls (in my case) or ColorSync-and then select an ICC profile. Same thing with the simple word processor Text Edit, or an application like Preview. or printing from a browser, there will be an option to pull up the full Print Settings and, thus, select the desired ICC profile. I can't find an application where that is not possible as long as it has a Print command.

Too bad the ink isn't closer. Can the manufacturer offer any help? Good luck.

Hello Dan,

I know I'm a bit late but for anyone else as well this works.

I have just bought a Canon iP7250 and have set it up to print what I see on my screen using;

In the Quick Setup window uncheck Borderless Printing

Go to the Main Window and Color/Intensity check Manual and click Set

At the bottom of that window check 'Print a pattern for color adjustment'

From the drop down choose C M Y and the paper size etc
Print your sheet of thumbnails, these will have the settings used for each image
Do the same for Intensity/Contrast

Choose from these two sheets the settings that are nearest to your screen image
Make the C M Y, I and C adjustments with the sliders

Go to Page Setup and choose the paper parameters you want to use
Go to Quick Setup and make sure those parameters are correct

Near the top of the QS page you will see Save
Use this to save all the settings and nominate them

You new named print profile will appear in the text box above the Save button
Repeat for various the types of paper you use

And the cost ..... Zero! lol ..... Takes longer to write it than to do it

Cheers - Jim

Where do I find the Quick Setup window on a Mac?

Hello Coys 1983,

I use a pc it does seem a bit odd though

I've done a couple of screen shots;

This is Main/Setup just wiggled a few sliders to illustrate the procedure though any other parameter you would like to alter can be added.

This is the 'Quick Setup' with those settings saved as 'test'

I can go back to this at anytime. I expect Apple call it something else. Or worse they've disabled it in their 'dog in a manger' attitude to customers.

Cheers - Jim
