Samples images from NX3000 up at Photgraphyblog pendding full review. Looks like they were taken with new kit lens (24-77mm FF). The lens seems to perform well, a little softer at the edges than than 20-50mm, the cost of going to 16mm I expect.

If posters on DPR were more concerned with lenses than cameras, I think the NX would be more popular. It could also be that DPR posters are more concerned with bokeh than sharp edges.

This review shows better noise handling vs. NX300 as well. See the earlier discussion here:

I just wish we could have a user here with both cameras (or NX30 and NX3000) to take some photographs at identical settings and with the same lenses and make some comparisons of RAW files with noise reduction turned off.

At least Samsung definitely seems to have reduced the aggressive noise smoothing algorithm for OOC JPEGs used on NX300.

it seems the JPEGs are heavily processed inside the NX3000, and sharpening is applied as well.

I am a little busy now, but could try some comparisons. Are you thinking RAW or JPEG or both?

I think noise reduction is not applied to RAW until a certain ISO then there is no choice?

If you have both NX3000 and NX30, it would be wonderful to see some comparison shots with noise reduction turned off entirely and using RAW files converted into JPEGs with no post-processing. Also using the same lens, same aperture size, same set ISO values, on a tripod, of the same target. Say at ISO values of ~1600, 3200, and 6400.

Comparing all these OOC JPEGs is just apples-to-oranges. The point is to see how the sensors deal with noise before the in-camera JPEG engine does anything.

(Though the OOC JPEGs are still a point of annoyance at high ISO, as my OH takes my camera periodically and makes photographs on the Auto mode, which only saves JPEG and not RAW--I always shoot RAW + JPEG).

Thank you!!
