Can Canon 600D Batteries be charged from USB? As I going on a isolated trekking trip I need to sustain my camera batteries. I have a power bank which gives output on USB. Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

What power bank are you using Chintan? Always looking for new ones.

It really should be possible. With most rechargeable Li-ions you are fine so long as the voltage doesn't exceed a certain level. If I remember right it is at 3.6v (I'd check that). To exceed the charge voltage is a dangerous proposition and a Youtube search for exploding lithiums will give you some fine entertainment. Look for the voltage marked on the camera charger but I've yet to see a charger that was that much different to another with these things (other than the contact arrangements that is).

Going directly from USB would be bad though as USB is rated at 5V. A very simple and light voltage regulator would be a cinch to rig if you have any geeky friends with a soldering iron and would only require 1 or two components costing $3 or $4 dollars. You might do it yourself from a simple diagram drawn for you at an electronics hobby shop. There are probably ready made commercial models out there to be had of course.

I don't know your skill set of course so ask away if I've got you thinking.
