Part of a documentary series - the fishermen on Aldeburgh beach use these bulldozers to get their boats in and out of the sea. Also, to keep the shingle banked up as a sea defence.

I like this composition a lot. The significance of and relationship between the elements might not be self-explanatory except to those familiar with fishing on Aldeburgh Beach or wherever similar practices are used. That adds a little mystery, which I like. I think similar methods are used in Icacos, Trinidad (where I've had the privilege to visit), except they just use a tractor to pull the boats onto the beach and back into the water.

But what I like most about this is the way the rope coils lead to the bulldozer and the bulldozer is beautifully framed by a nice radial cloud arrangement. And the darker sky at the top punctuates the bulldozer.

You needed deep DoF to make this work and you have it.

Nice job on the processing to render beautiful detail throughout, even in the bulldozer treads.

the high key is working for me and I like how the rope gives a very big boost to the depth of the image

Until I read the text, I kept thinking "Why is there rope there?", figuring it has some significance. Did you try a wider perspective? In New Zealand, old tractors are often retired to the beaches and back right into the water to launch boats.

Love the subject and would be keen to see the final series. I've shot quite a lot of fishing community / beach scenes in the developing world, and have just uploaded some inspired by your interesting looking project.

Wonderful composition and intriguing discussion here.

For my taste, a few top coils of the rope and the actuator lever between the hydraulic cylinder & the bulldozer blade are on the edge of being blown out. I might dial these two areas back just a tiny bit to show more detail if I were doing the PP.
