Well if you don't have a camera with you, then its really hard to take a photo !!

If you have to spend $120,000 on a lens, then good luck :-) Then you still need a small truck to mount it on.

Its not a lens on my list and all I use is long tele lenses.

Between the lens and the pretty lady, I don't think anybody's noticing the camera.

The best camera is Sony Alpha 77 2. Currently I have Alpha 65, but I will upgrade. I have a Sony RX 100 too and in the future it seems like, as if this would be the camera most of the time with me.

So, which one is the best? Off course the A77, even if I do not have it with me. It will not get worse; I just don't have it all the time with me. Otherwise, phone camera would be the best?

Edit: Btw is the link and posting some sort of hidden ad? It goes to a shop.

For what?

This is like "what's the best car?". Again, what for? Taxi work, racing, limousine?

It has a thousand answers.

dang I was hoping no one would notice that so I could vote for the UR leica as the best camera in the world it certainly spawned the most clones and wannabe clones

Edit: Btw, yes, you’re a very good egg hunter, but stating “some sort of hidden ad” is kinda presumptuous and jerky, don’t cha think?

I have an A65 also. With the right lens, it’s almost a full blown Pro grade camera. For the money, I’d like to know if anything realistically even comes close. Currently, it’s just got the 50mm F1.8 entry level glass on it. I’m thinking of maybe getting one of these? (oops, is that “some sort of hidden ad” too?)

Well this is why your post doesn't really make much sense. Subjects and what you take.

You have the Sony A65 with a 50mm lens. In that case for wildlife and sports shots, your camera completely sucks !!. So now what we do is add the Sony 500 F/4 or a Minolta 600 F/4 in front of it and all of a sudden for sports and wildlife, your camera rocks ;-)

So reverse it. A beautiful sunset is in front of you and you have your Sony A65 with a 600mm F/4 on front and you want to take a wide shot, again your camera sucks. Take the 600mm off and plant your 50mm on it and its excellent again.

So what does that tell you, its not the camera at all, so what is the best camera, it depends on what you have on the front of it for what you want to take.

A step down from the 1200mm F/5.6L you posted

But I wouldn't take a landscape or a portrait with it.

it defined the paradigm for 35mm film photography. It was ergonomic before the word was coined. It is a master class in form follows function. two film cans and a shutter box with a line drawn around them an voila the archetype for thirty five mm cameras as we know tham. if not the best by far the most influntial

this camera and lens is a shoe in for the best candid street shooter and for going un noticed in a gang of terrorists or though the security at the airport

What your call on one of these?
Anything under 300mm for me is ultra wide angle, so I wouldn't know anything about that lens ;-) 300mm and over, I understand.

Complete, unapologetic conviction to a form, respect!

So, I guess this is what would be a pocket camera for you:

Gees, I don't know. Maybe if it would fit in my pocket I guess :-) Not much use to me though.

If you want wide angle lenses, I'm not the right one to ask. There is no ..... best camera and as I said, it depends what you put on front of it and that makes all the difference.

So the best camera is the one that can be used with the greatest number and variety of lenses (and bellows etc).

Or alternatively, it is the camera that can be carried in your pocket at all times yet give acceptable image quality.

Three words you wrote come to mind ;-)

"acceptable image quality."

So that can't be the best :-) We should all be shooting with larger format, but the problem is we need to will lottery twice, LOL. Then who would want to carry it. Its all a catch 22 at the end of the day. There is "no best camera"

That old saying about the best camera is the one you have with you, has a heck of a lot going for it.

All the best.
