Is there a way to switch from one MR memory bank to another (e.g., change from what is saved in bank 1 to bank 3) without first turning the dial to some other mode? When you turn the mode dial to MR a screen comes up with 3 tabs to then select the particular memory bank you wish. Is there a way to get that screen to come up when you already have the dial set to MR?

I hope that makes sense.

Yes, but you need to assign Shoot Mode to the Fn menu. Press Fn, choose Shoot Mode (you must already be in MR mode) and you'll get the same screen you get when you first move the dial to MR.

It's not really any faster, but it keeps you from having to fiddle with the knob.

Exactly right. Add shoot mode to Fn and you can get the MR switching menu.

as Ross notes, it's not 'faster' but for me at least it's much more intuitive...I am able to press Fn while keeping the camera to my eye, and as long as Shoot Mode was the last function accessed, the Fn menu will still be sitting on that selection when you press it - I can click once, rotate the jog wheel one detent, and half-press the shutter to begin shooting in the new MR setting...for me, it's more convenient and easier to do on the fly than rotating the mode dial back and forth, then selecting my memory mode. Definitely not faster, just what forks more naturally or easier for you.

I guess I'll have to decide if it is worth using one of the slots in the Fn menu to me. I should have one that I don't use much.

Yes, too bad that Shoot Mode is totally useless except when you are in MR or Movie mode. It's actually great in Movie mode, lets you choose PASM modes for your movie. If you're not in MR or Movie mode, the setting can't be changed. I guess they wanted to avoid the confusion of the knob saying you're in one mode when you've actually changed to another!
