Can this tripod (slik U6000) be fixed?

The head of this tripod broke. This plastic part is used as a spring and flexes when the handle is tightened or loosen. The rest of the tripod is still in good condition.

Seems like a waste to throw it away. Is there a way to fix it or use it for other purpose?

Hate to be blunt, but "the waste" started, when you purchased the thing...

Perhaps drill holes for a couple of steel rods in both parts and glue together with cyanocrylat (sp?, but meaning 10 sec glue)...

But seriously, I would waste it... you can get more decent gear for a little bit more money.
