Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone who knows more about the hotshoe on this camera can tell me if I can use my Pocket Wizard Plus III transceivers? I know there are more contact points on the hotshoe.

And what about any other flash units, for that matter?

Thanks,

John

I used some Plus II's the other night with Nikon flashes. I would say your answer is yes

I use a Canon TT1 on top of the X-T1 and that works fine.
Only manual mode of course. The X-T1 sends a signal to 4x TT5's (also in manual mode).

Now only hoping that somebody once will make a TTL compatible radio flashtrigger.

Here you go,

Works a treat and compact.

Cheers,

Dennis.

Are those TTL compatible?

No. He confirms it that in the comments below the review. As you first mentioned, we are still waiting for someone to come up with a TTL Radio/Receiver kit. Working manual isn't all bad but it would be nice to have the TTL option.

I have tried Yongnuo YN 622 Canon version with Canon flash. It worked perfectly.

I have used PWIII and PWX with Alienbees/Einsteins without any issues..

Thank you for that. I have the same and am pleased to hear it will work with my (eventual) Fuji kit.

These guys http://www.sereneautomation.com/index.html appear to be hard at work prototyping a wireless TTL solution for Fuji X-Series. (And much more)

"For remote flash trigger just place the master on the camera, with or without an attached flash, then place one or more slaves with attached flashes where you like. Power them up, and begin shooting. TTL takes care of exposure for you. Plug in a sensor module and take a shot of an instantaneous event, such as a balloon popping, using high speed flash."

Looks to be in development - but lend them your support and maybe we'll see a commercial model hit the streets some time soon!

"Currently RoboSHOOT X© is available for pre-order. Production plans depend on gaining enough orders to carry it through the production process. There are two ways to obtain RoboSHOOT X©: custom build (prices to be determined) or pre-production order with a $75 refundable* deposit toward the purchase of each unit ($290 for the Master, $255 for each slave). We need to reach a target of at least 60 orders to go to production. Delivery will be approximately 16 weeks after start of production. If you prefer to wait to order, you can still help speed the production by a donation toward this effort. Any donations will be applied to the purchase price should we bring it to production. Optional sensor modules will be priced at $90 each (for example, sound detector). Please contact us if you have specific or custom sensor requirements."

I have been using a cheaper wireless trigger (Space Cowboy) that I got from Amazon. I use two flashes (Canon 430EX and Yongnuo) and the setup works pretty well, in manual mode.

I can not get my pocket wkzzard's to fire on my xt1. I have tried 4 dif ones, even tried the sync connector with no luck. I have an off brand trigger and it works. The Nissan i40 works and the small flash works, Any ideas why this isn't working?

They all work with the XT1, I have the II, III and the PlusX- have used them with the XT1 with compatible Nikon and Canon flashes and several brands of studio lights.

What are you syncing them to?

connecting them to my studio strobes, they work fine with my Nikon 810

I commend their efforts and hope for their success. I am hesitant to invest in such a new startup. I had bought into Digital Camera Battery many years ago. They went under not long after my purchase. A good system, still works but I wasn't able to expand or buy parts so that left me with some restrictions. I prefer track record purchases. I'll bookmark your link though. Thanks.

The future is just a click away...

I had a same problem with my X-T1 and Pocketwizard PlusX,

but solved the problem after I switched OFF "SOUND&FLASH OFF"

under SET-UP menue 1.

It works beautifully.

Looks very interesting but really only worthwhile if you have the specific compatible TTL Nikon flash units. I wish they supported my Canon 550EX flash units.
