Tokina 11-16 for startrails.

Hi everyone,
I am considering this lens for nightshots and startrails.My question to owners is-how does the lens preform wide open?Any other observations would be really welcome.
I also posted in the nikon lens forum,hope nobody minds.

I considered the Tok for a while because I was after a wide angle zoom for astrophotography. Having read many reviews I decided not to get it because I was concerned about the CA's it suffered from. Does that contribute to star coma? I'm not sure. To be honest, the zoom range is also very limited at just 5mm.

I got the Nikon 10-24mm in the end, and I'm very happy with it. Pretty much no coma when stopped 2/3rds.

I'm pleased with mine, sharp wide open. CA? Not on stars.

I've got it, and truly enjoy it. It works really well for star trails, and wide angle night sky shots.

I hope this is staying on topic, and others find this useful. I found THIS webpage with some good information on choosing a lens for Milky Way photography, however I do believe the info is good for most astrophotography.
