Beautiful...what's a "Zeiss Zebra"?

I had to think about this for a while too, since Zebra stripes are a video function for exposure.

I think poster is referring to Zeiss Jena lens with black/silver "striping" on the lens (knurls are polished with black paint in between).

You see, another proof that telepathy exists.. because you were able to understand that it can be one of the dozens of zebra lenses... Zeiss, Orestor,
Orestegor, Jena, Pentacon...
Did you find out which one ?

Viking is right,

Not a Meyer optik - Pentacon, but a Zeiss "Aus Jena"

without "Zeiss" as it is a western export model, and the conflict about the use of the Zeiss name.

so "aus Jena" instead of "Carl Zeiss Jena".

Rumor said they choose the best lenses to export, and for the moment happy with this little lense.

... now we are getting closer.. you are talking about a 135F3.5
Axiom: "all 135 mm legacy lenses are at least good"

From my experience, the old GDR lenses are average... when compared to Minolta, Canon, Pentax lenses.

I had a lot of them... I still have ... 10, or so, ... the build, optics, coatings... everything ... is not so good.
Also, the zebras are older models, before they renamed them Pentacon, or a dozen other names...

I am sure that with a Canon FD 135F2.5/3.5, or a Minolta MD135F2.8/3.5, or a Olympus 135F2.8/3.5 you will be thrilled.

Axiom are not ever reality :)

No they are many average and bad 135mm

No it was a deliberate choice for IQ,

No it was a deliberate choice for IQ,
Here you are right, some DDR or Russian lenses can do this:

Helios 58F2

Helios 58F2

Stunning...

Not the same approch of Zebra :) :)

I can not see a need for more detail on the human face, even one this young. \Proof that the A7R is not necessary for portraits and is only desirable for landscapes.
