I upgraded from EP3 to EM10 a week ago and find that the 14-150 lens mount is very tight. The 25mm oly that I received today is extremely tight. I had found the EP3 friction to be just right. Should I send the EM10 back to amazon?

Thanks, Eric

Better than too loose. If it doesn't feel or sound like it's actually scraping, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hard to say. Is it something that feels so tight it might break when you turn it? If so, I'd exchange it.

My cameras and lenses do vary somewhat that way.

Just got mine a few days ago and it's also very tight. I hope it loosens up a bit. It didn't recognize my 9-18mm once because I actually hadn't turned it quite the whole way when mounting it.

They both feel like they are scraping. I have to squeeze the 25 so hard to turn it that I can envision the whole apparatus flipping out of my hands. I'm just afraid of sending it back and getting another that is the same. Anyone else?

Oh actually that happened with the 25 once, too, just a black lcd.

my 17mm f1.8 is pretty tight on both the EM10 and EPL5

the 12-40mm is a bit less tight

so hard to say , the lens mount may not be built up to specs

but nothing to worry about, maybe it loosens up with time

cheers ;-)

I am the original poster and requested a replacement from amazon, which arrived in 2 days. The replacement body lens mount has the perfect amount of friction in my opinion (quite a bit looser than the original) for my 25mm and 14-150mm. Now I just need to spend an hour setting up the menus again and return the original to amazon within 30 days. Thank you to everyone who provided input. It was worth the small amount of trouble to get replaced and now I'll happily be changing lenses.

I understand this topic is a month old, but I only just got my e-m10, actually my second. The lens fit was so tight I swapped it for another. This one is just the same. Im almost hurting my hand to get the 45mm f1.8 on.
Do many people have this problem with the E-M10? My Pen cameras did not have this tight fit at all.
Lens swapping takes time, but this way it's a really annoying thing.
I really hope it loosens up.. or should I just go for a third E-m10?

Mine was VERY tight with the 45mm f1.8 too, but OK with other lenses - after a few weeks the 45mm has loosened up a bit, so I assume it's the lens and not the body.

I had (still have it actually, but selling it) the e-pl2 and the 45mm is not tight on the camera. So it's a combination of the e-m10 and 45mm lens. Also the Pana 20mm is pretty tight too, it's normal on the e-pl2. I dont have any problem with the kitlenses. With the 45mm it just feels so awfully tight, doesnt feel good.
Im not sure what to do. I wanted to take this camera out this weekend. The shop, where I ordered it, has a very strict return policy. The products may not be used... Zzzz. Annoying.
Im thinking of ordering another one, I will then have it tomorrow, but what if they wont take back the first.

Same problem here. All my lenses (Panasonic and Sigma, no Olympus) are a very tight fit on my M10 although fitting easily to my Panasonic. From reading this forum I guess returning it until one gets a perfect fit could be a drawn out process.

I tried 50 lens insertions on mine and it didn't loosen up at all. Actually I used a PK-M43 adapter, didn't want to damage my lenses. Maybe I should've applied a little grinding paste...

Also recently acquired an EM-10. My experience is

- Oly 14-42mm EZ lens - fits easily

- Oly 12-40 F2.8 PRO - tight (feel friction)

- Oly 60mm macro - very tight (really feel friction and can't really get it on in a single turn)

But hey what can you do, unless you literally can't get the lens on, what can it do, damage the lens mount?

The return process to amazon was extremely easy for me and well worth the peace of mind,

Yesterday I called the service number of Olympus Germany and explained my problem with the tight bayonet of my E-M10. The man on the phone said he heared of it for the first time. When I said that the problem was well known in the forums, he made some derogative remarks about camera forums in general.

Then , all the sudden, he said: "..wait, I am just trying a 45mm on the E-M10, whow - that's mighty tight!"

He then recommended to take my camera back to the place where I got it and try another copy.

Strange, i had a similar experience. I first ordered EM10 with kit lens which was tight fit.

I then got a replacement with body only. It feels better now when attaching 45mm.

I've had the EM10 for a little over a month. Was hoping that the lens mount would get easier to work with over time, but this hasn't happened. Especially tight are my Oly 45 and 60. When I found that I had missed the Amazon return window by a couple of days, I called Olympus. They said to send it in, which I did this morning. Will let you all know what happens.

Most of my lenses (14-42IIR, 14-42EZ, 40-150, the two BCL lens and an adapter for older Zuiko lenses) are fine. I also have the 17mm/1.8 and that is a bit tight. Not to the point that I feel it will get stuck, but definitely harder to get on and off than the other lenses.
