I am thinking of a Fuji (XE-2) and before wanted to know the workflow or best editor and catalog? I don't know if LR or Aperture will render without artifacts or proper WB. What is the better way to open, edit (RAW) and print the files from the Fuji cameras? Thanks

XE-2 owner here... more threads than you could ever rear on the internet about this... I love Lightroom for both it's processing/editing features and powerful database/cataloging capabilities. Good luck!

Just get Lightroom. There are countless videos and books to get you going. Also, consider adding the NIK plugins later and you are done. ;-)

I am using LR + several filters + several external raw converters. If you're interested you can find my workflow on my blog.

Cheers!

There are many good choices. Generally, the best program is the one you are most familiar with. If you don't have a favorite program yet, there are usually trial versions available for you to play around with.

FWIW, I am on a Mac; I use Aperture for cataloging, Aperture mostly for raw processing and Photoshop mostly for image editing.

The best depends on what you want to do like, one-offs vs event work... Opinions vary so best to make a list of all options, download and try each with some of your most challenging raw files. Some are better for extracting the most detail, others the most DR.... Know your needs and try before you buy.

I used to use adobe CS6 but now use Capture One for my raw converter and export to use photoshop for plugins... C1 seems fantastic and prefer over adobe. PhotoNinja is a great raw converter but a bit clumsy interface plus it is CPU intensive and i am running on a dual, not quad core. PN seemed the best for noise and excellent for DR but does not do catalogs. C1 is very responsive. I have tested most but the 'best' is subjective.

The best?

For image importation, organization, culling/editing, keywording, non-destructive RAW processing, gallery-making, and printing, you should go with Lightroom.

Superb design for photographers, very well priced, and very well supported.
