I've just picked up this XM-1 camera as it was on a great deal with Amazon. My main system at the moment is Nikon so I have several lenses and would like to get a Nikon G to X mount adapter. I know my Nikon lenses would become manual focus only so was wondering is the focus peaking as good or similar to that of the other Fuji X series cameras such as the XE-1 and XE-2?

Whilst I'm looking into getting a Nikon G to X mount adapter could anyone suggest? I have found a Fotodiox one for £39 but it has no reviews so would like a bit of feedback from someone who might be in the same position as me.

I was on the look out for an XE-1 or save up more for the XE-2 but with the great deal Amazon gave with the XM-1 it was to good to turn down. After £100 voucher from Amazon and £100 cashback from Fuji the silver XM-1 is costing me £210. A bargain. If I really take to the Fuji system as much as I think I will, I'll no doubt at some point move completely over to Fuji.
Thanks for the help.

I haven't met an X-M1 yet, but you might consider one of these for MF work.

LCD magnifier

I don't know what this particular one is like but by coincidence I was looking this up just before I read your post.

For the adapters, I bought two from Amazon -- no name but probably Rainbow Imaging. The Nikon one is very nice -- smooth mounts and a pretty accurate infinity focus. The Pentax one is just usable enough not to send back -- focuses well past infinity and the lens locking catch is iffy.

They were both cheap but you might weven if it means paying a bit more.ant to consider getting something from a known maker

If I had the X-A1 or X-M1 I would definitely get an LCD hood/magnifier for it. I don't like the idea of holding a camera a foot or more from my face. Even back in the days of medium format reflexes without prisms I'd always shoot using the magnifier in the hood.

Every photograph is an abstraction from reality.
Most people are more interested in the picture than the image.

I see where your coming from and it does make sense to get one, no doubt as soon as I get my XM1 I'll be wanting one :)

I got an X-m1 on the same deal, great value. To me the focus peaking was a bit of a gimmick I could take it or leave it. I haven't used it seriously yet but I've had a bit of a play with it and found it to be a useful tool, when used in conjunction with the magnified view* . I could live without it as the magnified screen works well on its own but as its available I will make use of it.

*press the rear command dial down like a button.

Save your money and buy a cheap (metalic) adapter ring (on eBay or amazon). I've got one for Canon FD for around 10€ AFAIR. Lens are mounted tied and since there in no glass in the adapter, there is no loss in IQ in using a cheap one. My 2cts.

Cheers for the info. It's good to know the FP works especially when I get my Nikon adapter and put on some of my prime Nikon Lenses. In the short term it'll be handy to use more than just the 16-50mm lens and any help with manual focus for me at least, is a good thing :)
