Merry Christmas and Sorry for my bad english!

I often wonder if people who make negative comments about a particular camera: Have they tried?

I had not bought the Nikon Coolpix P7700 because it had no viewfinder. At the announcement of the P7800, I said at last!

The man always wants more than what you give it ... I took the P7800 and I went to do what it was made: take pictures.

I have not explored everything with this compact camera, but I can say that this is a very good camera that my second SLR. He does it very well. The lens is excellent directly at full aperture at all focal lengths. AF reaches its target even in poor light conditions. The dynamics of the sensor is positively surprising. The viewfinder covers 100% of the frame. It is digital? Yes it is!

NRW files offer good opportunities for improvement if necessary. Like my pro cameras, the settings are at your fingertips. I am extremely satisfied with the Nikon Coolpix P7800, it gives me what I ask, and maybe a little more. I have at your disposal various photos taken with this camera.

I forgot to mention that he has agreed to work in very poor conditions, without stopping: -15 degrees Celsius ...

Fully agree with you. I never had the temptation to go from my P7100 to P7700 for the same reasons and I went to P7800 as you. I made 1,000+ shots and I am very glad so far.

Although I made some shots in Central Park, New York (it was "hot", at +5oC), I made more at home, now with temperatures around 30oC!

... all of them JPEGs from the camera with small processing at PS.

About 4 weeks into my experience with the P7800 I have to agree with you 100%. The essentials: good optics, very sharp, nice color rendering, beautiful zoom range. Good macro performance. Surprisingly good IQ for such a small sensor, plenty of functions, many buttons and dials to customize are all in place. The Panorama function is well conceived, surprises like tilting / correcting horizon to level are welcome. The EVF is not too bad for such a small thing. Not much of any negatives so far. I find the menu lay-out a bit confusing.

As to your nice pictures: to evaluate their quality, it would be good to know if PP was applied. If so, perhaps posting the original JPEG would be an option. The ones below are without PP.

I agree with all that's been said about the P7800. I love mine.

+1 here ! A great little cam - I like everything about it and what (to me at least) counts the most, the results are there.

By the way, I like your second image very much.

Merry Christmas and Happy shooting !!!

Your English is pretty decent! :-) And, I like your reasons!

I have been using Nikon Cameras since film days (F-401, N-8008, D-800, D-8400, D-600 (Yes I know! Still safe from the shutter-splash and everything I have two of kept tightly crossed!;-). I have also used canons, Panasonics, konicas, pentaxes, olympuses etc and now waiting for the P-7800. All have strengths and weaknesses. Magazine reviews can be depressing at times with their fancy lab results and curves and numbers which can invoke fear in prospective buyers' impressionable hearts thumping temerously! I miss the viewfinder that personally I have always missed in most digital P&S cameras except my canon S-1000 still alive and in the custody of my spouse who simply would not let go of it, and despite its 7MP rating, brings in beautiful shots after almost a decade of use. I miss too the viewfinder (EVF) on my CP-8400 which had an 8MP rating, a tiny LCD and low-res LCD and EVF by today's standards, although once considered a flagship in its line in the Nikon lineage (ca. 2005). Missed too are the rather useful LCD that would put a YOGA-contortionist to shame with its twisting design (although it protected the LCD by going fully introvert, I don't recall it going 360 so that one could take a selfie while watching oneself (fully forward facing, that is!). For me, P7800 had both features and how bad can a Nikkor ED lens be, after all! I would say, poetically, that P-7800 is a CP-8400 on steroids! VR is good too, though none of the P&S with stabilization really worked well in my experience. Of course I am now comparing the feature in comparison to a DSLR like D-600 and that is admittedly unfair. So, I think I researched well (past two weeks), picked the camera with most features that I need and like, including the neat effect which allows one to select a colour and leave the rest of the spectrum as a B&W, such as while shooting flowers! Now, barring a major unseen flaw in the current Nikon manufacturing process (no more Made in Japan, even DSLRs) etc., my USER's notes hopefully will bear witness as to my purchase decision has been right or purely sentimental! OH did I mention that in 2005 I paid $(Cdn)650 + taxes for my D-8400 whereas the much more capable P-7800 cost me $(Cdn)512 + taxes (that online warehouse that brings to mind the imagery of formidable tall female warriors!). Should I have passed on the 8400 nine years ago if I knew P7800 would be in the offing? Not on my life for I would have missed incredibly important (and some beautiful images as well!) through the intervening years!

I have to agree with the feed back and impressions of you all about this little gem of a camera. The proof of the camera lies in its ability to produce images as you need them. This is not a DSLR but then again a DSLR is not something you can hang over your shoulder underneath your jacket without problems to just quickly pull out for a grab shot of something you would otherwise have missed. I have used and tried it out on various subjects and found it capable for basically any type of photography or subject. All cameras have short comings and it depends on your level of anticipation and timing based on you experience from shooting with the tool in your hand whether you will get the pics intended. That said i found that the time it took me to overcome this camera's short comings to let it do what i need it to do and customize it with its vast amount of options took me a day or so. Now i am confident that i can travel with it and would use it for any work whether for casual shooting or as a person working in media. I created an album in my gallery with images taken with this baby and will update it from time to time with images across all disciplines of photography.
