6D dropping in price, Christmas special or a new model coming soon?

I see that the 6D can no be found online for 25% off the original price. Nikon and Sony has not had any sale on their FF cameras and the 5DIII is usually normal price as well.

So what is your take, is this just a Christmas special to move more cameras off the shelves or is there a replacement model on the horizon? Given how much grief Canon got for not having enough features on par with Nikon D600/610 I could see Canon pushing out a new model sooner.

If I didn't have a one week old Sony a99 I'd be all over this. It's a great opportunity to get into full frame.

I had the opportunity to take a few basketball shots with the 6D a couple of weeks ago and it's really nice. The only reason I didn't buy it then is it's slow burst rate.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canon would up the ante and match the D610s (and a99's) 6 fps burst rate. Wouldn't it be a nice surprise if they could do it via a firmware upgrade!

i think if they drop it another $100.00 bucks it would kick some real ass. I got one for 1,289.00. $100 cheaper than the EM1 and XE1. Full frame, great low light shooter, great performer. I wish it was smaller but at that price I just couldn't pass it up.

I thought it was the biggest selling FF DSLR camera on the market at the moment? If that's correct then there is hardly a rush to replace it. Plus any serious upgrade to it would make it a threat to 5D III sales (which I believe are also healthy for where it sits in the greater scheme of things).

Christmas sale, Canon wanting to bury nikon and sony probably. No 6D2 anytime soon! The 6D outsells the d600/610 as does the 5D3!

Canon has always had more aggressive sales prices and lower street price. Most Canon shoppers know not to buy upon release while for Nikon there is less risk of discounting but risk of QC. I see nothing abnormal about Canon pricing from the time I started but I didn't start in their years of pure dominance in the debut of 5dmk2 or 7d but just speaking upon the years after.

Nikon had a one time large discount of d600. With their DF and 55 1.8 release to me they are looking towards low volume higher margin products.

Sony also gets heavily discounted on bodies due to such frequent releases. Look to see the A7s be surpassed by next year.

Also as much as any Nikon fanboy would hate to admit the 6d undercuts the DF and offers similar lowlight with better lowlight AF as well as video. Is just as light and has wifi gps and modern and good handling. No longer will hey keep harping on and on about the single SD slot like the 6d. If Canon offers a single slot it's a travesty but for Nikon it's just pure photography.

Really? You know how most Canon buyers think? You can really only give your opinion and please stop saying you are speaking for most buyers. Wow.

I thought sony went to sony controlled selling prices without the ability for a reseller to discount themselves.

Christmas specials and a lot in stock, probably. I really don't see a 6D Mark II happening anytime soon. Nikon only refreshed the D600 to escape from all of the bad publicity they were getting from said camera.

Which really didn't work out to well for them. This move rubbed a lot of Nikon shooters the wrong way(rightfully so). And yes, I'm another disgruntled D600 seriously looking to jump ship. I've cut my lens collection from 7 to 2 and just sold my flash since summer.

I mainly shoot my kids, landscapes, and my kids youth sports. My main concern with the 6D is its AF performance and shooting youth sports.

Canon won't renew its 6d before 2 or maybe 3 years. Its price is dropping because of Christmas' high volumes sales, and the almost announced 7DII which would have a price a little higher than 6D, but a lot under 5DIII.

Every Canon's camera has always seen its price dropping after its first year selling, and after. No surprise. The 6D will probably end its career around 1000$ to replace the xxD serie with a similar FF camera. Remember 5DII beginning at 3000$...
