Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… okay, I tried the brand new Phoenix 2x Digital
camera lens yesterday… no vignette and the images looked real sharp
in the camera… until I got home that is… AUGH!
There really isn’t any vignette, and the lens is a real 2x, it did
double the image… however, the image is only sharp in the center of
the photo… and it's not a “depth of field thing” either…. Even
shots that I took of a flat wall with writing on it, were only
sharp in the center, all around the outer image is blurry. Again,
they really did look good in the camera’s LCD… heck I purchased the
lens yesterday because they looked good, but alas, they were too
blurry except for the center.
I’ll post a few before and after shots in a new thread, just to
keep everyone up to date.
I’m still trying to locate the older Phoenix Hi Mag 2x lens… that
one worked well with my old Dimage 5 but… I don’t have either
anymore… I hope that lens, which was stolen, will work with the 7i.
Sorry to disappoint ya… I really thought I had the 2x that would
work… oh well… I have to bring it back to the store today.

Come on, Anthony! Spill the beans! What lens did you find? ;-)
hang on to your money for today... I just picked up a 2x lens that
worked FABULOUSLY for me out side the camera store, with the test
shots I took… I’m waiting to get home to see them full size on the
computer but… the results were awesome! Sharp, and I mean sharp
edge to edge!
No vignette from 175mm to 200mm …a bit of shadow vignette starting
at the 150 mark… which at the 150 mark was pretty close to the
cameras 200mm.
The lens REALLY doubled the focal length too, it’s a real 2x, not
like the Crystal Optics 2x, which is really only a 1.4x lens or
those faked Ebay "before & after" shots, this lens gave me 400mm!!!
…. So, once I get home, and I really get to see the shots on the
computer… I’ll post the results.
So far… I am a very happy camper!!!

Raynox claims the lenses on this page
-
http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/digital/egdimage7hi.htm - are
compatible with the Dimage 7/i/Hi. Anyone have one of these lenses?
I'm especially interested in the telephoto converters. If you have
one of these lenses, what's the minimum focal length with no
vignetting?
