I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with the camera shutter locking up and showing an error message on the LCD? My camera is two months old and already at Nikon USA. Is this happening to anyone else? Also, my pictures appear to be dark. Could this be attributed to Selection Color Mode II (Adobe 1998) and opening with Photoshop 7? Please let me know.

What lens are you using when this happens?

There have been reports of this with some Sigma lenses.

Do you have v2.0 of the firmware? That might be your problem with the profiles... but about the error I am not sure. I had my camera for only about 3 weeks now.

I got my camera about three months ago. Would I need to get this info from the camera? It is at Nikon. I will ask them to update the software and clean the CCD before they return. The camera is in the shop for the error. I have a local Nikon Auth Dealer about 3 miles from here, but they had to ship it out. Really sucks.

If you have any of the pictures you taken with your D100 before sending it out look at the EXIF data it will show firmware version.. it will show 1.0 or 1.1 or 2.0... I believe..
If its not 2.0 have them upgrade the firmware while its there.

No Error Code. It just said "ERR" on the LCD. Everytime it did that, then the shot would be very dark.

I just checked one of my shots and it said 1.0. I will call them tomorrow to get them to upgrade the software. Thanks for the advice.

I just got the same "Err" message on LCD earlier today. This is with my D1.

I narrowed it down the cause, it only happens when I set the CSM of aperture selection to sub-dial (as oppossed to aperture ring).

I think there some electronic failure with the camera that may need fixing. BTW I also got sever underexpose picture with the error.

Try it see if you got the same problem.

Hello,

Mamby it's the appearture handle in the camera it seems to bee out of line.
I had that problem also and the pictures where very dark.

The camera can't get a good appearture and the appearture will be at it's smallest like F22 or higher( less light).
So call nikon and let them check the appearture handle in the camera.

This problem occurs when you put the lens on the camera and do it a little bit to hard.

Is your ring diaphragm locked well?

With a Tamron 19-35mm on my D100 the shutter won't fire in infinity Strange but not a real problem for me. Pushing th AF-lock button works.

Yes but it means that your lens is not able to go to infinity. Your lens should have a problem

take a shot with the diaphragm with full opening, you will can doubtless notice(on the pc monitor) that a subject in infinity is not sharp

It does go to infinity, and the captured image is sharp, but the shutter just won't fire in AF mode unless I press the AF-lock button.

No problems with this lens on the F90

Yes, this is my exact problem. It is intermittent and my camera is currently at Nikon USA to get this fixed. If they can't fix it. I will ask for a new camera. Thanks for emailing me back.
Try it see if you got the same problem.

I will make sure it is once I get the camera back from Nikon USA. I suspected this, but did not concentrate on it.
