RX10 may be the ultimate cybershot and finally a real follow-up to the R1. Looks great! Will be interested to see how 1" sensor performs.Anderton wrote:

I think Sony's fine with keeping both lines going. What they learn in each, helps the other. The DSLR world will eventually go mirrorless, and Sony took the right gamble; I think they're smart enough to be working even harder on the next Alpha. The next Alpha FF body should have improvements over what we're seeing with these new models, and I'm sure that my A-mount investment won't be diminished.Canadianguy wrote:
That is very interesting about the news of expansion of the A-mount or at least the upcoming arrival of 1 new A-mount lens - will that be the last lens or is their a multi-year road-map. Or will be the same as Olympus and the 4/3 mount - still manufacturing but don't expect anything new to be release for the mount.
But it would be interesting to see the marketing message behind the 35mm A-mount vs 35mm E-mount - aka FE lenses.
Why get one over the other.

Your post, like all your others that are focused only on the equipment you own Sony a57 and Tamron and Minolta lens, makes no sense.123Mike wrote:
A tweaked 70-200 lens at $3,000 a pop. That's not a commitment to A-mount cameras. It's just flushing out something that was in the pipeline, and something for which there wasn't an E-mount (FE-mount?) equivalent for as of yet.
I think people are thinking desperately wishful. I think it's logical to see the writing on the wall.
I just hope that AF during video will be ok, by the time I'll move from my current A57 probably some time in 2015. I'm going to have to resist that shiny new toy syndrome (especially with all that metally lens look and those sharp edges metal looking modern looking buttons, oooohhh), and I'm just going to have to accept that what I have is good enough. It is, is it not?

A7 does not feature the control set a Pro or even dedicated DSLR users wants in their camera. Even the FPS were kept just below the A99. They are not selling it as SMALL DSLR .. no implication that this is the a99 replacement.
You can even note that the FF e-mount zooms are pretty slow at F4.. again something being kept for A-mount.
If you look at the B&H video right after the "commitment to a-mount" at 8:00 you will hear the really important part... for Sony.
They are selling this as a camera that can take lenses for several other systems..with adapters. IE this is about wooing people over to Alpha..
Your post makes me smile.. two videos with Sony officials talking about A-mount continuing as a separate system even using the word commitment.. and you are still creating from air a problem that does not exist
What you may not know about marketing at companies this size.. is that there is LEGAL REVIEW of core public messaging.. to avoid lawsuits etc. There are also carefully designed FAQs that are reviewed and cleared by legal. These videos include scripted sections like "ask us about a-mount". I have to do this all the time in my work. Legal looks for small phrases that could get people sued, like "will save you money" always becomes "allows you to save money" because we can't promise people they will use the product right.
Two Sony On camera reps who would be very well coached for a big launch video would never ever be allowed to say things like "both at the same time" or "committed" when the company knew they were not. AS people who buy $3000 lenses could create a class action suite if there were no more Amount full DSLR cameras for the lens they just bought.
You can pretend its not enough.. I can tell you that they want to keep talking A7 as this is the launch camera so they only spend a few seconds on A-mount but the wording is very clear.
Given the SLT FF adapter and the new 36MP sensor.. I expect the A99r to be announced by Spring. Maybe at CES.
While I agree with much of the rest of your comments, I'll disagree with this one: it IS something a Pro can make great use of. I felt this on seeing it, but then in reading Michael Reichmann's hands-on article I saw a Pro who was totally against the A99 (because of its EVF) seem to fully embrace and anticipate the A7/R. I think you'll find a whole load of pro's anticipating the arrival of these cameras; if they deliver what they're claiming, then Sony has made a brilliant move (no fanboy tone involved whatsoever).K E Hoffman wrote:

Brian is certainly a voice for Sony: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/52339019sensibill wrote:
One G lens does not mean A mount cameras are forthcoming. The guy clearly avoided mentioning any plans for A mount bodies, the same way all Sony reps are, lately.
"We're fully committed to A mount." ...And immediately goes on to say FF E mount will be 'the best' and up-sells the LA-EA4 adapter.
"Let's say you have an A99 or A77. You can adapt it with the EA3 adapter or EA4 adapter. You can turn this camera into an SLT and get everything you get with that camera with this camera."
I don't get any sense from this that they're planning any more A mount bodies.
