I own a HP Designjet Z3100, which uses HP 70 ink cartridges. I do not use the printer very much and some of the cartridges are expired. One can replace the electronic chip with a resettable one and continue using the cartridges. I found macroenter.com as a source for these chips. However, they do not have them for the following cartridges: Gloss enhancer, Gray, Blue, Green and Red. Does anyone know a source for these chips?

WOW Are you saying that the cart chip expires on the Z3100 carts? That is nuts!

I only know about using refillables which require the installation of a special decoder board under the ink bay for the carts and chips to be recognized, inkjetcarts.us has these systems but not the chips you talk about.

Or you can go directly to CHINA and get them where they get them.

You might have to buy more than one set.

So what's the deal with this printer? It refuses to print if the carts expire???
That is really ridiculous.

I don't think any other printer manufacturer imposes such limitations.

It simply continues to print but when the carts are loaded it gives the warning that warranty on the printer is compromised. I have several now that are expired and heads out of warranty too. The printers work flawless though. If it becomes annoying you can do another trick, use a new cart and when it is say at 10 ML left fill it with the remains of an expired cart (same color preferred :-). The counter will go down to 1 ML or Low but the printer will still function and empty the cart totally. I usually put that kind of carts on a scale to keep an eye on when I have to get new ones. 50 gram for the 130ML types is as low as I let it go. There are no issues though when they run dry like it can be an issue with Epsons.

I have used Chinese under the cover PCBs to intercept cart chip data. A pit*, within a month all kinds of errors. The same I have seen reported by someone who could only use 6 reset chips (of the 8 of the Z2100) on a Z3100 and I have my doubts about the 12 chip packages from Alibaba.

On the two HP Zs that I have I only use the original HP Vivera pigment ink, some from larger carts as used on the Z6200 etc. The best ink around on longevity and printer behaviour in my opinion, I am not going to compromise on that. The small PCB boards that intercept the chip signals were only intended to get rid of all the warnings about expired/empty carts etc. That was no success so I use the carts as described in the other message and still get the warnings. I can live with that.

I do not recommend the use of third party inks, done that years ago on Epson 9000s and a 10000CF when Epson inks were not as good as third parties could offer then (pigment with a good gamut).

Hello everyone,

We are using HP Z5200 plotter, we are looking for thirty-party ink at this moment.

We are tested a lot of ink already, but all fail.

Can anyone may help us to find out which ink are ok in Z5200?

Regards

Eddie

Hi

noted the comment about only 6 of the 8 chips working.

I have bought full set of 8 cartridges for hp z2100 printer but 2 (LG and C) keep saying cartridges need to be replaced. Sent for further cartridges of these 2 and in both further cases got exactly the same replacement notice. I have replace the Right Ink Supply Station and all service engineer diagnostics passed. The Acumen ink supply diagnostic recognised all cartridges yet when I reboot I still get this replacement message. Any suggestions? Dubudubu
