This Lens Is Amazing For A Beginner. I Would Admit It's Nothing Compared To A 70-200 F2.8 Or 300 F2.8 But For A Beginner Looking For Zoom Its The Best Choice And It Have SWM What Is Silent Wave Motor And It's Quality At 300mm Is Very Crisp. ONLY £170 From DigitalRev.

Very Happy With Build Quality Aswell.

thank you

I have had this lens for almost a year and am very happy with it. It is mot quite as sharp as the Nikon (slight difference for pixel peepers) but you don't get the focus breathing with the 55-300. You set it on 300 and that's about what you get regardless of distance. this lens plus the 18-140 and the 35 1.8g should be all you need either forever or until you decide to put SERIOUS!! money into upgrading your lenses.

I recently got this lens for my nephew (ah.., the pricetag of "buying" good grades!) :-D

He's recently into photography the last couple years and naturally the whole family looks to me to be a mentor of sorts - not that I mind. I guess that's to be expected when you drag a 400 F/2.8 out on family outings!

I noticed that most of the shots he emails to me are taken with a 500mm mirror lens his Nikon D70, DX body. So, at his age (15), I guess it's all about zoom.

Thanks for the review link (reminder).
I think I'll take a closer look at it; just curious...
