Same Shot- G3 and G2.

How can features matter more than the image quality. If it is so then I have missed something with photography.
Just ask yourself a question. Even if G2 sharpness is better would
you still buy it? I know I won't. G3 has other great features that
I am looking forward to using and price difference ($200) is not
that big of a deal.
I set up a tripod and using indoor lighting took the following two
shots. To my eye there is no doubt the G2 is sharper.

by "features" I also meant improvment of AF... G2 has unreliable one... so far no sign of this in G3...

The G2's autofocus issue can be easily dealt with either using manual focus or by just being VERY careful. I've taken many pics w/ my G2 and have yet to encounter a problem w/ AF, although I must admit that from what I have seen, the system the G2 uses is not perfect.

Just remember, the photographer is just as important as the camera.

You might want to display the shots exif-data, and was this shot of a tripod? since i mean, one cant get neutral comparisson if the circumstances arent exactly the same, but if this is true i wonder what canons got spinning in hteir heads...

And people who have G3 are defending it, trying to justify their purchase. I think that both cameras are great and that's it.

I placed a pre-order this afternoon and was advised the G3 is instock in December...early. The date has been delayed by three weeks now. There are tons of G2 models around. My G4 retails at Y89,800 the same price as the current G2 on display.

I must say that the $200 does make a difference because if g3 is not much better than g2, then I think there is actually a much better 5 megapixel coming up in less than 1 year.

I still think g3 is only a transition product!

So people can buy a g2 instead and upgrade to that directly!
