Nikon D40 works great with my Nikkor 70-300 4.5-5.6 VR

I bought the Nikon D40 when it first came out, and despite owing a D300 and D700, I still enjoy using the D40. For some reason, I getter better photos on it with the Nikkor 70-300 4.5-5.6 VR lens than when this lens is used on my other bodies. I have taken great shots on a Drop Zone at Fort Bragg as fellow Paratroopers jumped from aircraft at about 800 Feet Above Ground Level. The shots are super sharp.

The 70-300 f4.5-etc. lens is a real honey, isn't it. I have a bunch of lenses that I very much enjoy using, but for some reason the 70-300 is the one lens that I really love.

I agree.

I bought my 70-300vr shortly after getting my D40 and I'm still using it now (6 years later) on my D800. It's an excellent lens, and lightweight too which is a real bonus.
