Friend of mine took a bunch of pictures with his TG-2 tuff camera and copied the pictures onto a flash drive for me. Can I read the gps location from the jpg files? I dont see any location in degrees in the exif data. Is special software needed or can I read it with a exif viewer or in photoshop CS5?

Solution
The GPS would have to get a "fix" before it adds the info to the EXIF. That can take a while if you've just switched on in a area away from where it was last used, quite some time sometimes but it should flash a little GPS icon when it has a fix.

Though I'm going on my experience from my SH-25 but imagine it's very similar.

I don't have the TG-2, but any exif-aware viewer should be able to show GPS data.

I'm using Picasa on a PC and it works perfectly with my photos.

Yepp it was in the exif data its just alot of pictures he took he didn't get a gps lock so it doesn't show anything on those. When I first checked the exif data i couldn't find it but after checking many I finally found the lat and long in there on pictures he took more time to shoot so camera got gps lock. Well at least some of the pictures have location data. Thanks for the help
