Installation of Smart-Remote on NEX-6

Hi,

I just did everything without a computer. I simply set up my Wifi on the camera, logged into Playmemories account, and installed the smart remote from the apps. On the phone/tablets I simply install from the Google Play store.

Thank you for the quick response!

Your approach sounds very interesting and promising. I will try it, too and would like to understand it in every detail.

"I simply set up my Wifi on the camera," Did this mean to connect NEX-6 with a WiFi-Hotspot?

I did have connected my NEX-6 with the WiFi-hotspot of my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S3) that has a mobile-internet access via 3G/H+. I also have setup a Playmemories account. But, I have no idea how to "log into Playmemories account" from NEX-6. Must I install an internet browser on my NEX-6 first or something like that? It would be highly appreciated if you could explain this step in details.

"On the phone/tablets I simply install from the Google Play store." I've done it for picture transfer /playback from NEX-6.

Best,

Yang

Since you already have the account set up, this should be pretty straightforward. Press Menu and select Application, then select PlayMemories Camera Apps. Follow the prompts. It should reconnect to your hotspot, if not it will prompt you for the information needed to establish your connection. Once connected, you should get prompted for your PlayMemories credentials. (Its annoying to enter without a touch screen, hopefully you do not have a lengthy logon/password.) Then you can browse the apps available. Pick yours and follow the prompts to install.

I suppose the key is going to PlayMemories Camera Apps. The rest is basically reading the screen and doing what it says when prompted.

Thank you so much for the most detailed instruction!

However, my problem is, on my NEX-6, I only see the following 5 menus:

Camera, Image size, brightness/color, Playback and Setup. There's no such a menu as "Application".

Um, I do not know how that would even be possible to not have "Application". Sorry, but I am stumped. :-(
