Did some thing dumb last year - sold my 7D. Now I want it back. I could buy new, or used and save $500 bucks. Since I recently bought the 500 f4 II, used looks mighty good.

BHPhoto has used 7Ds rated at a 9. They also have Canon refurbished 7Ds for about the same price. I like the idea of a refurbished, at least it will have a clean sensor. ;-)

How say you?

I just bought a clean 7D about two weeks ago. I paid $780 for it. I see a couple of vendors who seem fairly reputable for offering new 7fourfold $845. I would take a close look and see if those are not good options for buying a 7D at the best possible price. I have no regrets over what I paid for mine, but at the time I did not see these other prices either.--

It's nice to say that nice pictures are nice. (sarcasm)

If the camera was refurbished by Canon, I'd by that rather than used, unless the used cost considerably less money. I don't know anyone else who refurbishes Canon cameras...

if the money makes a big difference on when you could get the camera, i have no hesitation about recommending B&H for it. that big lens needs a home.

have a look at KEH too - i bought stuff from them in very good condition, and they were extremely friendly and helpful.

There's a ton of relatively inexpensive used 7D's with very low actuations floating around on ebay and CL, and it should be fairly easy to score a 7D with less than 5000 mileage for around $800. That's what I would do.

Having purchased a refurbished 7d from canon and getting a great camera I can only say good things about the refurbished cameras. All of the canon techs I spoke to on the phone said they usually by refurbished themselves. I did a shutter count on mine and it was only around 1 hundred clicks. Also their techs told me that the refurbished cameras are not used and repaired at all and that they were all over stocks or store display. I also want to add that if call them about there loyalty program you will find that if you send them (or tell them you will send) any old or broken canon camera then you get 20% off of the refurbished price. Which I just now looked and its 1079.28 so take about 200 or more of that and you have a fantastic price ($800 something). I thought I got a good deal on "Black Friday" at $960. Bottom line in my opinion (except for sales tax) I would go refurbished over used. I you get the 7D I think you'll like it I love mine.
