He wandered up the area, was not afraid of anyone, and posed on the berm behind the jobsite trailer. He let me get a couple of shots and wandered off

OK, so it's a coyote-fest here, so I want to show you one my wife took a shot of about a month ago here in Montana. He was pretty far off, so this is cropped (shot at 300mm with an 18-300 lens on a D7000) and not super sharp. The question is - is it a coyote or a wolf? If it's a coyote, then it's a big, bad beefy one. There are wolves around here, but after consulting books and online photos, we just can't be sure which it is. FWIW, I think it's a wolf. Any help? Thanks.

Here is a coyote that I found near a local soccer field. As soon as I pressed the shutter he took off, leaving me with only this one shot, but I thought it turned out well.

After doing a bit of reasearch, there are quite a few subspcies of coyote, so we all might be right

Though the last one may be a red wolf.

They are coyotes, one and all. I have seen lots of them with the reddish coloration around here (North Florida). They are quite variable, both in coat patterns and size.
