"very popular" is a result of good "marketing". So both. Does it beat Leica? Sure in many ways, and in many ways Leica builds cameras that beat the X100s. The X100s is a well made and designed camera that fits a niche that has existed for a long time, but was never fulfilled.

I'm glad have Fuji X100s & now this camera price is Crazy.
