- In full manual mode, does the back LCD screen brighten in bright light and dim is dark light? My Canon 5DII does not do this, but my Fuji X cameras indeed do this. I prefer when this does not happen, I want to see the exposure I am getting.

- What button do you use to zoom in and out to check focus in Live View?

- Might their be any complication in using M42 lenses with an M42 to Leica adaptor on this camera?

Thanks in advance. -Mick

If I point the camera to a dark area the lcd shows an image that is a lot brighter than the actual scene. I guess this is to help you focus. If I point then at a bright scene the image looks very very bright but within a second or so it dims down and you can see the scene properly. It is almost like the lcd adjusts to a view as if you had the proper exposure set up. If you press the shutter lightly though, then you can preview the actual image as it will be...

There is a button at the front that you can use if you have it on manual, but if you use automatic as soon as you rotate the focus ring the image zooms in. I like the automatic one! :-)

I do not know that, but I would not expect any problems. You will have to manually set the lens in the menu though to get the benefit of any in camera adjustments for the specific focal length.

Thank you for your clear answers.

I'm not fond of the LCD changing with the lighting conditions. I prefer WYSIWYG.

I would be using it with old Helios lenses that require a M42 adaptor.

Cheers, -Mick

Is there any setting to stop the LCD screen from changing it's relative brightness to lighting conditions?

Thanks a bunch, -Mick

I checked, but I could not find any.

Have a look here, wher you can find the M manual in english

http://uk.leica-camera.com/service/downloads/rangefinder_cameras/leica_m/

You will see on page 174 the live view mode section which explains how it works. It does not mention anything about changing the relative brightness.

hi Mick

using a M240 with old Helios lenses is a interesting idea.

when you get used to the camera could you please post some images by this combination, it would be nice to see what they look like IQ wise and how the colours are handled.

I wonder if I could piggy back a question in this thread as well. I noticed when I shot the 240 at the camera store that it seemed that I could focus SO much faster than on any other M I've shot. Is there something about the rangefinder/viewfinder that has been upgraded to make focusing easier?
