X-20 firmware update?

Not entirely sure if fuji is ever going to come out with a firmware update but we can send them a petition just to have them know...just saying

How do you find the IQ compared to the F200EXR, that was one of my favourite pocket sized P&S, still holds it own today.

I for one was looking forward to the X20 as a significant upgrade to the X10. Although some folks see improved RAW and some see better JPEGS, there seems to be a general concensus that especially for JPEG shooters IQ is not improved (because of the smearing). The viewfinder is obviously a step up, although some people find it hard to see the green info, and the hardware loses its EXR capabilities for a better DR option.

I think there is an opportunity to make the X20 what we hoped for, with a new JPEG engine, and a few tweaks elsewhere.

However I have not bought one yet, because I don't see much of an upgrade (which I would like a shot if the firmware was changed)

I suspect that there are many others like me.

Come on, Fuji, take your rose tinted glasses off and make this camera what you said it would be! (Before I buy an RX200 or whatever is coming soon)

I can't answer that, but other cameras have had their JPEG performance improved by firmware update. It sounds possible to me.

Do you think Fuji reads these posts about the X20's jpeg smearing?

I wish I knew somehow if Fuji is even working on this problem currently.

I suspect they will take note of this. It's a premium compact not a cheap one so I think buyers are more discerning at this level.

Many makers have made the mistake of not giving users a choice on jpeg NR, and frequently have overly aggressive NR processing. I hope they do look at is as I'd def look at the X20 at some point this year.
