Anyone tried using Gariz half-cases with Black Rapid system?

The darnest thing - I have Gariz half-cases on both the X100S and the X-Pro1. The cases attach to the cameras via the tripod screw on the camera - but they provide a tripod screw of their own (more centrally located, as well). I've wanted to use these tripod screw on the base of the cases to attach a Black Rapid wrist-strap and/or camera strap. I can't get the Fasten-R to mount on the tripod sockets in the Gariz cases. Oddly enough, if I remove the case - I can attach the Black Rapid fasten-r directly to the camera. I was under the impression that the Gariz cases have standard tripod screws, but it doesn't appear to be the case?

The X100S case has a gun-shot hook at the bottom of the plate and I could always use that with the Black Rapid straps. But the X-Pro1 case... does not have this mechanism, so one needs to use the tripod screw. Except the fasten-r seems too big for the tripod screw on the case (though perfectly sized for the screw on the camera itself.

Anyone had any experience with these? Thanks...

I have the Gariz 1/2 case for my X10 and use a BR SnapR35 case for it. The Case came with the wrist strap attachment, so I can just unsnap from the SnapR case lanyard and snap on the wrist strap accessory if needed. However, I haven't tried the camera on a tripod, so don't know if the Gariz extra tripod hole is going to be a problem for a tripod quick release mount.

I have the same case on the X-E1. First time I tried to use it's tripod screw I thought it could not be used, or the size was wrong, but it was just not precise enough, it does work but you need to force it quite a bit.

Strange that such an apparent quality product has no precision on the size of the tripod hole..

My X-E1 Garitz half-case has a Manfrotto tripod quick-release plate permanently attached, so it appears that they do have a standard tripod screw size. I’m not familiar with the Black Rapid attachment so can’t comment on that.

Didn't work for me ... the BlackRapid attachment and the Gariz for X Pro 1.... threads don't match. I returned it to the vendor who was well aware of the issue for refund. I'm using the X pro with a Fuji grip, Black Rapid attachment and a Nikon Korea II handgrip.

Since the original post I've returned to the original triangle clip on the top lug as more comfortable.

That's the conclusion I've reached, the Gariz tripod screws are not standard. I've tried attaching the Black Rapid Fasten-R and it just won't go in; I've used force (not TOO much), the things are just not the same size. Oddly, the Black Rapid fits like a glove on the camera's tripod screw (after removing the case). BTW, I also have a Manfrotto plate, and same thing - it just won't go into the Gariz case. I'm attaching photos to describe the issue... First, with the case on:

You can see the gap between the rubber washer and the base of the Gariz case... the screw only goes partially in.

Next, with the case OFF:

Flush fit... as it should be! I didn't tighten it to the point where the washer expands, as it should, but I have the ability to do so.

It's a shame because I love the case... but I will have to contact the vendor for a refund. Or a replacement - if they can guarantee the tripod screw on the next one will be a standard one (as apparently they are able to produce, judging by the other poster's picture with the Manfrotto plate attached!). Thanks to all.

Did anyone consider going to a hardware store and buying a thread tap to correct the Garitz threads?
