Is there a need for an FAQ to guide people on what to post where?

I think that questions like "Which camera should I buy?" or "look at my pretty pictures" are not News items...

Yeah. But people post here, because this forum is the most active one... This site isn't THAT active, so it doesn't cause any harm, even if half of the posts actually belong somewhere else.

Is it possible that in the 7 weeks digicammania has been registered and has posted some 200 messages that just a few of them might have been unnecessary? not news items? etc

c'mon fellah - live and let live and BTW please don't fall into the fairy tale notion that if a FAQ is put up people will read it (and comply with its suggestions)
