Just curious, how many of you buy, but don't sell ?

My list - D30...D60...10D...30D...40D...50D...G11...G15

All still work. With these at hand, it's interesting to see the differences in each, some good, some not so much.

It's also noticable the things that are manufacturing "tolerance" based differences. The things that weren't "supposed" to change...but did because of + and - tolerances in manufacturing each and every little piece of these machines.

Best overall (color, sharpness, etc.) picture capture, in order - 50D/40D (50%-50% toss-up) ...D60...G15...30D...G11...D30...10D

Gave away - did not sell A 2 with lenses

Still have the Elan , seldom use [ just replaced battery - not it is not in camera ] , XTI as a back up / brother uses when I am using the 7 D - Parties , weddings etc .

Wife still likes her film nikon , uses the Elan more than I do .

I don't sell

always sell my camera before buying a new one... my wife's compromise (rule) about photography. Actually don't mind, keeps the junk pile small...

I've always sold mine before ordering another. I also sell a lenses before I replace it with a new lens or if my needs change. I just sold a nice 15-85 and replaced it with the new Sigma 17-40 f2.8-4 OS - C lens that's yet to be delivered.

I never sell a camera when it is replaced but I do give the one on the bottom of the pile to a child or grand-child (a couple more years and the great-grand kids can enter the line-up). Current line up are 7D, 40D, 30D, G12, and a P&S of some kind. G12 and P&S are car carry all the time cameras. When I get a new camera the 30D (which is technically my wife's) might go to son or to grand-daughter and wife will get the 40D. I still have my Canon F-1 and Elan but I don't figure the kids would appreciate film.

By the time I upgrade, the old camera usually is worth very little. Exceptions: I was able to get about $US 200 in trading my XSi for a like-new "used" T2i, and I've contributed a couple old nonworking Canon compacts to the loyalty program for newer refurbished ones. If I get the 7D2, or whatever it's called if it ever appears, I might sell my 7D, although it's kind of ugly because I've used it a great deal and it's had a few bumps and scrapes, although it works flawlessly.
