D800, shipping with new firmware?

Since the announcement of the new firmware the D800 have slowly vanished from the shelves in Warsaw. My guess is they are sold and the new shipments have not yet arrived. A local store just called to inform me that they would be getting new stocks by this week end, and he has been told that they would have the new firmware. I find that hard to believe unless Nikon Europe does the firmware update before distributing the cameras to European countries. Has anyone recd a D800 with the new firmware yet? Aren’t the firmware updates done at factory level?

I think your assumption could be correct.

My local stores have no stock. Nikon UK are quoting around 2-3 week delivery estimate.

So I would assume the new stock would have the latest firmware.

So, the D800 seems to be still on high demand as that new hot cake despite all the controversy around it.

I bought mine in the UK last week (12.4.2013) and it had the old firmware.

I got my D800 yesterday in Hungary and it has the below firmware versions which I believe are the new ones.

A 1.01

B 1.02

L 1.006

Thanks for the update. In Poland too the new batch of D800's hit the market yesterday and are in stock everywhere, albeit with a price increase of US$100/-

I lve in the Netherlands, and got my D800 last tuesday. Firmware lvls were as above, out of the box.

These numbers indeed correspond to the latest firmware.

OK US citizens. Eastern Europe is getting new firmware D800s. Is anyone getting the new firmware D800s in the States? If so, you know that it is a fresh manufactured camera - maybe without the focusing problems.

IMO we're past this problem for new cameras. Still hoping for Nikon to make a statement for the cameras with defective AF sold in the first months of productions.
