Hello everyone,

I recently got a very very good offer from my employer (I work as a news reporter in a norwegian tv station).

I can go on a photography trip for around three weeks, anywhere in the world, and do whatever I want. They will pay 75% of the cost and pay me full wages for the entire period. Very happy right now! I will definitely not pass up this offer to become a better photographer.

Anyway, I am considering some sort of a photography workshop, maybe in SE Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia perhaps?), maybe a safari workshop in Africa or maybe something exotic like a mountain and temple trek in Bhutan. I've also looked at a trek in the Yellowstone National Park in the US, or something fun in Europe... Possibilities are endless :-)

I am an experienced hobby photographer with pro equipment (D800, 50mm 1.4, 14-24mm, 70-200mm 2.8, 200mm f2 VR etc). I sometimes do stills photos for my job, but I'm not a pro.

My main interest are landscape and travel photography. I also like portraits, macro and news photos.

Can you recommend me some of the best workshops that are out there?
Has anyone had an especially good photo teacher who takes his students to fantastic locations?

I'd be very grateful for advice!

Costs should not exceed $ 10.000 by too much...

Have a look at Bruce Percy's Bolivian Altiplano and Patagonia trips this June. 3 weeks, back-to-back. Bruce is an excellent workshop leader and both those areas are fabulous for landscape and travel photography.

Wow, thanks, the Tatra workshops look really good!

Too bad the Galapagos workshop is fully booked!

Thanks again, I've been looking at the Andy Biggs Botswana safari, looks fantastic :-)

Got any jobs going in your company? Sound like it is a lot better than my place!

Yes, we are fortunate here in Norway, largely unaffected by the economic crisis ravaging the rest of the European continent. We praise our unbelievable luck here all the time :-) And yes we do have vacancies, good reporters and photographers are always welcome!

Anyway, I've been looking at some of the National geographic expeditions, here's one in Myanmar in November, 13 or 17 days with Chris Rainier:

What do you think?

Hi Thorstein

I have a workshop this summer in Santorini - Grece . It's really good one . We will be working on : fashion , portrait and landscape . You can see my work here :

Considering the budget I could also do teaching one on one to the destination of your choice . Actually I have some destinations in mind

If you are interested you can contact me at :

Best regards

You have some excellent choices already given. Andy Biggs runs really great workshops in Africa and is a buddy of mine.Several people I know really well have gone and loved it.

If that doesn't work for you check out another buddy of mine, Greg Downing;

He sells out pretty quick and is a really good instructor. The one to the Falkland Islands looks great!

Best of luck and enjoy!!
