Does the 1DX hold the mirror up during a burst, or does it recycle?

hi, during max burst [14fps] the mirror is locked up, but I'm not sure if it applies to the normal 12fps, although i presume it must too. it also gets a bit complicated because when using 20000 iso or over [because of heat] it reverts to 10fps. There are other criteria as well.

Thanks guys.

Mirror only locks up during max burst which is jpeg only, 14 fps.
When the mirror locks up at 14 fps, how is AF achived? Can the camera track focus at 14 fps?

Thanks,

Armando.

When the 1Dx is shooting at 14 fps it doesn't AF at all because the mirror is locked up, so no, it cannot track a moving subject at 14 fps. It can however AF normally and track a moving subject at 12 fps.

So the 14 fps mode, being without AF and jpeg only has limited uses. It could be used with preset focus for example, to capture a golf swing, pitchers wind up and release, batters swing, kickers leg motion and foot contacting the ball, etc.
