It is pretty sharp in the center of lens when wide open. focus ring is smooth. But lens has quality control issue:
as lloyd described, my copy of lens showed focus skew issue: lens focus plane is not parrellel to sensor such that it front focus on left and back focus on right .After I sent lens to Elite Brand, I got a "replacement" which exhibites focus skew other way: back focus on left. Worse, that "replacement" lens had scratch marks on front glass! I sent back the replament lens and they told me to wait for 2 weeks for solution ....
