This is one of the best of the current crop of 2M digital cameras (as of Sept, 99.) It is very easy to use and takes sharp, colorful, contrasty pictures in most situations.

It does a wonderful job with its internal flash, yielding well exposed pictures with nary a burnout and few cases of redeye.

Unfortunately, it has one rather obnoxious problem. It does not alert the user of its focus status. That is, it does not tell you if it has locked focus or not. I would get several soft...some fuzzy even, pics per session. These would happen at dusk or indoors when the limited light was starting to challenge the cameras focus.

The other annoyance is the cameras ISO boosting in lower light. The ISO boosting would seem random. In two back to back pics, both using the flash, one would turn out grainy while the other would be perfect. Checking the EXIF header info it was apparent that one pic was taken at ISO 128 while the other was boosted all the way to 284??? Very curious since both shots used the flash and therefore did not require a ISO boost to have enough light. Perhaps the camera boosts the ISO to assist with focus?

I would have kept this camera if it weren't for its random focus failures.

Problems:

No focus confirmation.
Soft out of focus pics in low light.
Grainy pics in some low light situations do to boosted ISO.
