I bought my 990 in July, 2000. I bought the camera for panoramic images I post to my website (www.i-ota.net). Since then (6 months later) I've taken over 12000 images with my 990. In short, it is a superb piece of equipment and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a digital camera.
The images for a panorama must be clean and crisp because, under the best of circumstances, the finished panorama will not be as good as the images it is derived from. The 990 creates an outstanding image resulting in extraordinarily good panoramas.
I have one wish for a digital camera (are you listening, Nikon?): include an integrated GPS in the camera that adds Lon/Lat, Alt and heading to either the info text file or to the image itself. That would make my 990 a perfect camera.
Problems:
My only complaint is the slow boot and the long write cycle.
