To all the whiners: this is a piece of ELECTRONIC equipment. If you take the time to READ and UNDERSTAND the manual you will come a very, very long way in really grasping the possibilities of this camera. That, coupled with a basic understanding of photography and computers, (why do people keep whining about the software, for crying out loud? Just plug it in the USB port, transfer the pics with the Windows Explorer and enjoy!), gets you very far. If you're not able to produce clear, vivid pictures with this camera, don't blame the 990, but take a long, hard look at yourself and your own capabilities to understand electronics before pointing the finger, otherwise go by a celluloid SLR, then you don't have to cope with all the cumbersome menus and stuff!!!
