I've had the camera for just over a week and am quite happy with it. I bought if for my wife who demanded ease of use and compactness. On the fully automatic setting it is a point and shoot camera with instant gratification (as with all digitals). I was particularily pleased with the performance of the small built-in flash as I've heard numerous complaints regarding the weakness of flashes in Fuji and most other digital cameras. I've found the flash to be quite acceptable up to ten feet and sometimes more if there is a fair bit of ambient light but it performs at least as good as other small flashes I've used with 35mm SLRs in the past. The menus are easy once you've gotten used to them and well laid out. The camera has a lot of more advanced features that offers flexability for those more adventurous.(me!) I compared it to a 4700 that a friend has and it is almost the same camera with a bit more refined menu system and a much improved battery (lithium) and docking station. The battery has quite good stamina as well so I don't plan on buying an external charger as the docking station is fine although slow (5 hrs. for full charge but because of the litium battery you can top it up) I especially like the compact size and the built in lens cover.
